The all red wedding cake is certainly a bold choice. Even though red is a much more popular wedding color than ever before, it is not too often that you see a completely red cake. Usually the color is softened up by only being an accent color or being paired with one or two other colors. If you choose to have an all red wedding cake you might want to soften it up by using white flowers or a light colored cake topper.
This is the most popular wedding cake style when looking at red wedding cakes. Usually a red and white wedding cake is predominately white with red accents. The red could be in the frosting or more likely in flowers that are on the cake. The most popular red flower you will see on a wedding cake is a red rose. The roses may be used as the cake topper , placed in between tiers, cascading down the cake or placed on the cake table .
Placing roses on the cake table - can be either in addition to what is on the cake or instead of placing any roses on the cake at all. If you want to use whole roses, you can place a nice bouquet or centerpiece on the cake table. In fact, roses as a centerpiece would be a nice touch for brides who have red wedding cakes or red as their primary wedding color. Another way to add roses and the color red to the cake table would be to artistically scatter rose petals on the table.
Another popular color combo is red and black. Pairing red and black together could work for a number of themes, anything from gothic to sophistication. Again these cakes could just be red and black or you can soften them up a bit with some white. Usually the black is on the frosting or designs. You might choose alternate colors or the tiers, or have an all white cake with red and black decorations on the cake.
Of course there is no reason why your red wedding cakes cannot have other colors too. You can add other colors with the frosting, flowers, the cake topper or other accents. If you are having red roses on your wedding cake there is no reason you cannot alternate the red roses with another color like white or pink. If you only want a touch of other colors you can just have a couple of other colored flowers or roses, they do not need to alternate.
